Kathleen Gallagher, LCSW-C

Director

Kathleen Gallagher is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 26 years of individual and family therapy experience. During her career, she has gained extensive experience with child and adolescent treatment. Kathleen has worked for Alpha Omega Clinic for over ten years integrating the Catholic faith and psychology. Kathleen sees clients in Bethesda and Ellicott City, Maryland. She has also worked as a school counselor in Howard County, Maryland. Kathleen’s focus is on individual treatment with focus on relationship issues, forgiveness, mood difficulties, and vocational discernment. She also works with clients who seek healing from trauma such as post abortion and sexual abuse. Kathleen is married with two children, a grown step daughter and son. She converted to the Catholic faith. Kathleen has been with Alpha Omega Clinic since 2001.

Ann Samperio

Associate Director

Ann completed her B.A. in Psychology summa cum laude at Houghton College, and her internship at Baker Victory Social Services in Western New York, where she assisted case workers in the Intensive Preventive Services Department. She also completed an M.A. in Theology and Christian Ministry with honors at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Prior to joining the Clinic, Ann gained extensive administrative experience in the nonprofit sector. Ann has been with Alpha Omega Clinic since 2010.

Elizabeth Gockowski

Intake Coordinator & Clinician

Elizabeth Gockowski received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences at Divine Mercy University, an education grounded in the integration of psychology and Catholic teaching. She received clinical training at Affiliated Santé Group in Silver Spring, Maryland, a community mental health clinic where she was able to work with men, women, and children with a wide variety of mental health issues. Elizabeth uses various treatment modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Relationship Enhancement Therapy. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Neuroscience with a minor in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has experience working in education, childcare, and administrative support. Elizabeth assists clients as an intake coordinator at Alpha Omega Clinic, and additionally sees clients at the University of Maryland’s Catholic Student Center. She joined Alpha Omega Clinic in 2017.

Carolyn Hansen, LCSW-C

Clinician - Bethesda

Ms. Hansen works with individuals, couples, children, and families. Faith is an intricate component of all her work. She completed an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Antioch University and an M.S.W. from the Catholic University of America. She is certified as a Relationship Enhancement Marital/Couples Therapist and a Relationship Enhancement Program Leader, specializing in working with couples recovering from divorce, affairs, as well as remarriage issues, parenting and stepfamily issues. Ms. Hansen is certified at the Masters level by the Step-Family Foundation, and is certified in IMAGO Therapy and Child Centered Play Therapy. She is a specialist in communication and conflict resolution, and sees clients in Bethesda, Maryland. Carrie has been with Alpha Omega Clinic since 2001.

Marie Aleman, LCPC

Marie Aleman is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who is passionate about integrating psychology and Catholic anthropology in order to restore hope and healing to suffering individuals. Marie uses a combination of cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, psychodynamic, and interpersonal techniques in order to meet the particular needs of each client. Mrs. Aleman’s therapy is informed by both her educational training and her personal experience as a wife and mother. Marie works to heal clients through individual, family, or couple counseling formats.

Marie received her M.S. in clinical psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences in 2010. She then completed her first clinical training placement at the IPS Training Clinic. Her second training placement was conducted at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington, within two separate community outpatient settings. Mrs. Aleman began working at the Alpha Omega Clinic in 2012, and she sees clients at both the Bethesda and Fairfax locations. Marie is an LCPC in Maryland and a Resident in Counseling in Virginia.

Heather Casper received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, where her training focused on the integration of faith and psychology. She also received clinical training at Catholic Charities Family Services in Fredericksburg, VA. She is fluent in Spanish and has worked with adults, children, adolescents, and couples. She also offers feedback sessions for couples who have completed the FOCCUS inventory for marriage preparation. As a clinician, Heather utilizes a variety of treatment approaches including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal techniques in order to meet the particular needs of each client. She has worked with children, individuals, and groups, and has been able to do psychoeducational work speaking about mental health issues to adolescents. Mary received clinical training at St. Margaret of Cortona Transitional Housing Program with Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Arlington, where she was able to work with men, women, and children transitioning out of homelessness in groups and individual sessions to help clients find healing and stability. Maureen enjoys working with teens and adults. She also has 10 years of experience as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. Maureen strongly believes that truth is the basis for healing and hence gives direct and honest feedback to her clients. She believes that psychotherapy should produce measurable results and sets goals with her clients.

Maureen’s treatment approach is firstly prayer based, as well as interactive with a deep appreciation for the power of truth. Jonathan Dixon, MAMFT

Jonathan Dixon received his M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Evangelical Theological Seminary and his B.A. in Philosophy from Ave Maria University. Jonathan works with individuals, couples and families with a variety of struggles/needs. He operates out of a foundation of Emotionally-Focused/Attachment based modalities while also using a variety of MFT theories, addressing intrapsychic, interpersonal and intergenerational dynamics. Jonathan strongly believes in using this foundation with the client in a collaborative effort. Additionally, he is a certified facilitator for Core Communication and the Prepare/Enrich Relationship Inventory. During his time at Evangelical, he interned at the Marriage & Family Center in Lititz, PA. He is currently working on licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Patrick J. Di Vietri is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in both individual and family counseling. Patrick has worked with individuals of all ages dealing with various mental health diagnosis as well as emotional issues. Patrick is very proud of his extensive background working with the military and their families and helping them to work through critical issues as they presented themselves. Patrick is currently a therapist for the Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) Program at INOVA Fairfax’s day treatment program.
Patrick earned a Masters in Counseling and Bachelors in Mental Health from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Patrick considers himself very blessed to be married to a very wonderful lady and to have a little boy, who is full of personality. Patrick joined Alpha Omega Clinic in 2016.

As a clinician, she is passionate about integrating the Catholic faith into the healing process, and working collaboratively with the client. Brigitte utilizes a wide range of treatment approaches including play therapy, attachment-based approaches, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and developmental and psycho-education to best meet the needs of each unique situation. Brigitte has experience working as a play therapist and school consultant. She spent four years working as an elementary and middle school counselor for St. Mary’s Catholic School in Old Town, Alexandria. She has experience working with a wide range of developmental ages and challenges, supporting parents, and collaborating with teachers and school administration. Matthew A. Englefield is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in both individual and family therapy. During his career, Matthew has treated children, adolescents, and adults suffering from a variety of mental health and emotional disorders. Matthew has worked extensively with the military population as well as clients with dual diagnoses. In addition to practicing as a clinician, Matthew has provided years of clinical supervision to his peers at National Counseling Group, Prince William Family Counseling, and most recently at INOVA Health Systems. He is currently the Counseling Manager for the Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) Program at INOVA Fairfax’s inpatient unit.

Matthew is pleased to also be able to see private practice clients at Alpha Omega Clinic, which allows him to integrate his Catholic faith with his clinical expertise. Matthew graduated Summa Cum Laude in both his graduate and undergraduate programs. He holds a Masters in Counseling and Bachelors in Psychology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from American Military University. Matthew lives in Old Town, Alexandria with his wife and their three children. Matthew joined Alpha Omega Clinic in 2013.

Erica Englefield is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She specializes in military mental health and was a consultant on the military’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for 5 years. Throughout her career as a clinician, Erica has treated children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Erica has worked in numerous mental health settings such as community mental health facilities, public schools, private clinics, and corporate settings.

Erica graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Arts in Counseling from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. She also received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Franciscan University and a Master of Arts in Intelligence with a concentration in Terrorism Studies at American Military University. Erica lives in Old Town Alexandria with her husband and their three children. They are active parishioners of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Erica joined Alpha Omega Clinic in 2013.

Elizabeth F. Moncher, MS, MSW

Clinician - Alexandria

Elizabeth F. Moncher completed an M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Georgia Regents University and an MSW at the University of South Carolina. She furthered her training at the Medical College of Georgia Department of Psychiatry and at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and is currently working towards licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She sees clients at Alpha Omega Clinic’s Alexandria office.

The foundation of her practice is to provide a safe and welcoming place for clients to express their fears and conflicts, as well as their goals and desires. She strives to build nurturing relationships with her clients so that they can discover together how past relationships affect present circumstances and relationships. Therapy will focus on how thoughts impact feelings and behavior, while identifying how the past impacts habitual thought patterns. In collaborating with her clients, Elizabeth hopes to assist them towards finding meaning and purpose in a manner consistent with their beliefs and within a Catholic-Christian understanding of the human person. Elizabeth joined Alpha Omega Clinic in 2016.
